Statistics show Denmark enjoys energy surplus
(People's Daily Online) Statistics show Denmark enjoys energy surplus High levels of energy production and low consumption have helped to give Denmark an energy surplus, said reports reaching here from Copenhagen on Monday. A twin national focus on renewable energy and reduced consumption - combined with North Sea oil reserves, have helped to make Denmark the only EU country not reliant on imported energy.
Wind Farm blows away
(Bayshore Broadcasting News Centre) A major wind power development in Town of the Blue Mountains is dead and Brookfield Power is blaming the town. Mayor Ellen Anderson wonders how you could cancel something that never started. Brookfield Power announced they will no longer be attempting a 49.5 megawatt wind power project in Town of the Blue Mountains.
Second wind farm project halted
(ABC12.com) The wind has been taken right out of a second wind energy project in the Thumb Area. Last month, Michigan's first wind farm near Ubly was put on hold until next year. Now a smaller wind energy project in the Laker School District near Pigeon has been shut down by DTE Energy. The utility company says safety is the reason, but others disagree.
Wind turbine bombshell hits village
(Norfolk Eastern Daily Press) An "environmental bombshell" has been dropped on a south Norfolk village with plans for seven huge wind turbines, it was claimed last night. The proposed development north-east of Hempnall, near Long Stratton, would be Norfolk's largest onshore wind farm.
Company to shift turbines
(Border Mail) Wind Power wants to build a 52-turbine wind farm at Bald Hills in South Gippsland. Wind Power spokesman Andrew Newbold said yesterday the submission addressed the concerns of federal Minister for the Environment Ian Campbell, who knocked back the first application, saying the turbines threatened the endangered orange-bellied parrot.
Wind in their sails
(Bloomington Pantagraph) Horizon Wind Energy may expand the Twin Groves Wind Farm in eastern McLean County. Workers began erecting the first towers of the 240-turbine wind farm over the weekend. Twin Groves should be partially operational at the end of the year with 120 turbines complete.
